Salt particles larger than 3mm in size were causing problems down stream. The client required a compact scalping solution that would fit between existing equipment without issue.
Dust control and screen blinding were issues that needed to be addressed.
To address the dust issue, a bolted cover with a tube was located at the inlet point to allow material in. A second quick release cover with dust exhaust was installed over the discharge to allow for fast inspection and cleaning of the screen deck.
Due to the corrosive nature of salt, 316 stainless steel was used for the trough body.
The screening mesh was chosen to be a 3mm perforated plate based on the clients past success with such a media.
