Salt Fluidised Bed Cooler

Application

A salt processing facility based in WA had a need to cool processed salt. The product temperature at inlet would be around 100 degrees celsius and the desired temperature was around 75 degrees celsius.

Solution

Vibroflow designed a fluidised bed cooler with a 304 stainless steel trough for this application.

A small aperture perforated plate is mounted on the inside which allows the air to be passed through the product. Tubular air inlets line the side of the trough. Sealing the unit are high triangular covers that promote airflow and exhaust vents on the top to remove hot air.

The unit operates by vibrating material across the perforated plate while at the same time blowing cold air through the product. Just enough air is passed through the unit to maximise the cooling efficiency while not blowing out product.

The unit measures at 9 meters long which gives the product enough time to travel and cool to the desired temperature. This was only possible by using a sub resonant drive system.
